Lattice shell structures, also called grid shell structures, often in the form of a geodesic dome or a hyperboloid structure.
The grid can be made of any material but is most often wood (similar to garden trellis) or steel.
Gridshells were pioneered in 1896 by Russian engineer Vladimir Shukhovin construction of exhibition pavilions.
Pros :
Minimum use of materials, structural efficiency, and the creation of a large volume, as well as the potential for quick and cost-effective construction.
